Family Visas

01Which family visa do I need?

It depends on your relationship to the person in the UK, their immigration status and where you are applying from. The pages in this section explain who each route is for.

02Can I apply from Albania or Kosovo?

Yes. Many family applications are made from outside the UK. Enquiries are welcome from Albania, Kosovo and anywhere else.

Yes. Enquiries can be made in Albanian or English.

Work Visas

01Do I need a job offer to work in the UK?

For sponsored routes such as Skilled Worker, yes: you need an offer from an employer that holds a sponsor licence. Some routes, such as Global Talent, do not depend on a job offer.

02Can my family come with me?

Many work routes allow partners and children to apply as dependants. Some roles carry restrictions, so check the position for your route.

03Does a work visa lead to settlement?

Several work routes can lead to Indefinite Leave to Remain after a qualifying period, provided the requirements are met.

Visit & Study

01Do Albanian and Kosovo citizens need a visa to visit the UK?

Yes. Citizens of Albania and Kosovo need a visa before travelling to the UK as a visitor.

02Can I work on a visitor visa?

No. Visitors cannot take employment in the UK. Some limited business activities are permitted.

03Can I switch from a visitor visa to another visa inside the UK?

Generally no. Visitors are normally expected to leave and apply for the right route from abroad.

Settlement & Citizenship

01What is the difference between ILR and citizenship?

Indefinite Leave to Remain removes the time limit on your stay. Citizenship is a separate, later step that makes you British and lets you hold a British passport.

02Can I lose Indefinite Leave to Remain?

Yes. It can lapse after a long absence from the UK and can be revoked in some circumstances.

03Can I keep my Albanian or Kosovo citizenship?

The UK allows dual nationality. Whether your other country does is a matter for its own law.

Refusals & Appeals

01How long do I have to respond to a refusal?

Time limits are short and differ between appeals, administrative review and other routes. Check the notice on the day you receive it.

02Can every refusal be appealed?

No. Only certain decisions carry a right of appeal. Others can be challenged by administrative review, a new application or judicial review.

03Should I just apply again?

Sometimes that is the right step, but only after the reasons for refusal have been understood and dealt with.

For Employers

01Does my business need a sponsor licence?

Yes, if you want to employ someone who needs sponsorship to work in the UK, such as a Skilled Worker.

02Can a small business get a licence?

Size is not a bar. The business needs to be genuine, operating lawfully in the UK and able to meet sponsor duties.

03Can we discuss this in Albanian?

Yes. Business owners can enquire in Albanian or English.
